On day four, month two of twenty-eighteen, I start the day with 59
fifty-nine draft blog postssome placeholders, reminders, hints, a virtual "project box." Five Niner! Yes, I collect--there is something in the pattern of placing like items together. Did you know, that I collect handshakes, memories and stories. Oh, and hugs too--but that's a newer thing.
So D--that letter, that big happy mouth smile from pre-emojis days 😀Dee dreaming, defining, deciding, doing, delay of game, dog--DOG, yah, yes--I thought of a diatribe on a dog. A sweet pup that darted away at first sight. Dear sweet Maple--but wait--who cares?
D--defense, protect and defend. Oh--did I drift into the quicksand of self-doubt.Donning, yes that means putting on, like you don a coat, or a hat--so donning a humble but daring uniform--I step out into that court again. Not for fame or glory--last summer two twenty-somethings told me that basketball can be a source of income--I laughed aloud declaring, no, not I--a female of decades is doubtful in the NBA. What is my uniform?
Something about being in a team, the connection, camaraderie, common goal. There is something superhero-ish of a uniform. So back to drafts, why decide that dear sweet Maple's story must wait? These drafts, these draft blog posts--are they practice, or are they a creation of a different sort? Do they need to fully form? Did you know that the words below were once a draft that I called "Norm?" Something familiar and comforting in fitting in, being at home--being acknowledged, hearing our name. Spoken aloud, like a prayer or a wish--a person's name gives them respect and power. February for me is about renewal--baseball will start again. Patterns and routines go on, life is very spiral, it seems like we are in a similar place, but it's shifted, we've changed.
Putting it on, preparing and presenting ourselves as different.
Life is life.A drizzly day, drowning in the snores of two big dogs, my fingers click on the keys. As I lingering over these words, winding, wishing --not a pattern or a dance--more of a mess--a beautiful mess. Oh yes, when M is here, I'll need to decide if the letter M must mostly merge my "manage your mess" and "make it your own" philosophies--or morph into something else.
D for drafts, below is a song from a silly show from long ago. These are the words I had in this draft, so I would return and write of the connection of a name.
Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.Wouldn't you like to get away?Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same You wanna be where everybody knows Your name. You wanna go where people know, people are all the same, You wanna go where everybody knows your name.
That was the theme from a TV Show, called Cheers.
I wish you well and I hold you dear.
